Discount Ski Vacations

By: Jordan Thompson

One of the best ways to spend a winter vacation with your family is to take a trip to a ski resort. Ski resorts are great places for family vacations, offering slopes for everyone, even the children. But these vacations can be quite expensive, so the best way to plan your family’s trip is to ask your travel agent about discount ski vacations. Discount ski vacations are typically affordable for any budget. But if you want to make sure that you’re getting the best deal on you vacation package, there are several steps you can take.

Accommodations –

When you’re looking at discount ski vacations for your family, the first thing you want to check on is your lodging. Too often those who purchase ski vacation packages through discount travel agents and websites, look forward to their trip getting more and more excited – right up until they see the hotel they’ve gotten stuck with.

Read the fine print on every brochure and travel package website to ensure that your discount ski vacations hotel reservations are not going to be made at a hotel an hour away from your ski lodge, in an inaccessible area (this is a winter vacation after all), or is under construction. If you have any doubts about the hotels and motels mentioned in your discount ski vacations brochure, call the hotel listed and ask for recommendations from previous travelers.

Equipment Rentals –

Some discount ski vacations will include your ski equipment rental. Unfortunately, others may not, and may charge exorbitant fees for your ski rentals. If you are not taking your own skis and poles, and are planning on renting your equipment, be sure to ask your travel agent (and the ski resort, if necessary) whether or not your equipment rental will be included in your vacation package price. If not, be sure to get the resorts most up to date price list for rental fees.

Transportation –

Most discount ski vacations include the cost of transportation, such as airfare, shuttles, or buses. But his is not always the case, and you need to be certain that you and your family don’t end up having to spend a small fortune on last minute airfare, when you discover that it wasn’t included in your package price. Call the resort to find out if they offer shuttle service from the local hotels and motels, and if the price of these services is included in your vacation package or not.

Discount ski vacations are a great way to spend a winter with your family. Just be certain that you read all of the fine print, ask plenty of questions, and call hotels and airlines yourself if need be.
