Snowboard Tricks

By: Keil Newman

Once you get the hang of snowboarding and you are able to perform the simple moves and you can go downhill with ease, it must be at the back of your mind to learn up some snowboard tricks that will add to the pleasures of snowboarding. Having mastered the basics of snowboarding, it is time to address the challenges posed by learning snowboard tricks of which good examples are the Ollie, Fakie and also Nollie that are not very hard to learn and which can be used in combination with any move that you already know of.

The Fakie

The simplest snowboard trick is probably the Fakie though it can also is used to make different snowboarding tricks even trickier, and it is not as you may be thinking a trick that involves being goofy in the movement of your feet. In fact, the Fakie means having to switch the foot that is on the front of your board, which in other words means that if you use your left foot then the trick implies swinging the board or your own body around so that it results in your right foot ending up in front of the board. The fact is that the goofiness to this trick stems from the fact that those who have goofy feet generally place their right foot on the front of the board.

Another one of the simpler snowboard tricks that you should try and learn is the one known as the Ollie, which is also used in a number of other snowboard tricks, and which essentially involves a jump. To make an Ollie, you will first need to build up sufficient speed after which you must crouch down and as you approach the top of a hill or even a ramp, you need to move your weight towards the rear of the board and at the same time lift you on the front foot as quickly as possible and then have your legs straight and also remember to bend your knees as you land so that you achieve greater stability.

Finally, you may want to learn another snowboard trick that is known as the Nollie which is quite like the Ollie though it does not require shifting the weight to the rear of the board; rather, you shift it towards the front and while moving fast, ride it on the uphill rail while crouching and while leaning the body towards the front as if falling you need to lift your back foot quickly in one motion and pop the front foot and raise the board using the front leg. As you are doing this, you should center your body and land over your board while remembering to keep your knees in a bent position.

Learning these very simple snowboard tricks should provide you with greater pleasure in your snowboarding and also allow you to learn even more difficult tricks.
