Promote Reading- Read Zoo Books With Your Children

By: Chris Sussan

Getting the children to read can be a challenge and a half. The trick is to get them started at a very young age. Just to give you an idea, my wife and I began reading to our daughter when she was still an infant. This way by the time they're two, they can start examining "touch books" and animated texts of their own. Then once they hit four or five, they can get some real terms down. Suddenly they are reading in kindergarten, and some even earlier. Sounds pretty awesome, huh? Okay, so we're all aware of how crucial reading is to our learning process. So why not let the kids choose some of their own books. I guarantee they will be more apt to read them if they pick them out. One line of magazines and books that my daughter enjoys is called zoo books.

We want our kids to learn from what they read. Whether it's just simple vocabulary and story telling skills, or facts about nature, geology, history, science and life in general. All this information is wonderful. The more you know, the further you'll progress in life. This is why a prescription to zoo books is perfect for any household with children. Once you have the material in-hand, all you have to do is expose your kids to it. When they're young, they're commonly all too anxious to spend time with their mom and dad. Take full advantage of this.. It will change by the time they hit 12 or 13. Also, they love the pictures and information that zoo books have to offer. My child is a prime example.. She goes nuts over animals and wild life. I catch her flipping through zoo books regularly in her bedroom. She loves the fact that she can now read much of it on her own. That's a great feeling for a child.

Clearly there are plenty of reading sources at you beck and call these days. I am just thankful there are things our kids love to read and will do so without pressure. Because we all know that the pressure routine typically has the opposite effect. If you're a parent, I encourage you to check out zoo books and get a prescription now. There are even things we parents can learn from these fun magazines and books. Encourage reading in your house.
