Money For Nothing? Don't Kid Yourself

By: Brett Franklin

There may always be people who want to get money for nothing. Though I can certainly see why this might be attractive, it certainly isn’t realistic. I guess there are some who achieve this, but those have taken a life path that I don’t think I could take, and one I hope my daughter doesn’t take. There is something immensely satisfying about earning your own money, and feeling that wonderful sense of accomplishment that comes with it.

You might be getting emails that tell you that you can get money for nothing. These state that some person has died in some far off place, and they left no heir. This is, of course, good news for you. If you agree to be named the heir, you can have your part of millions. Sounds lovely, and it would certainly be money for nothing. However, the only person who is getting the money is the one who sent you the email. They will make it sound like you have just had all of your dreams come true, and will talk you into handing over you account information so that they may deposit this money into your checking. They won’t deposit, but they will make a rather hefty withdrawal.

You may also get emails saying that if you pass that email on to a certain number of other people, you will get money for nothing, a free laptop, or one of a host of other things. This is never real either. I just got one of these today, and I couldn’t believe that my otherwise very intelligent friend thought it was going to work. No one is giving away money for nothing, nor are you going to get anything else for free. This is just another time waster that seems to suck so many in.

While there are some ways to get money for nothing, none of them will leave you feeling full and happy. You can find someone with money to marry, but unless you really love them, all the money in the world is not going to make you happy. You might wait for a large inheritance, but you are going to have to endure the loss of someone you love very much for that. You may not be able to tell by some of the youngest generation, or even members of my generation, but earning what you have is the best feeling you could have. It might even be better than love.
