Go ahead and sigh. You know you want to. It's official, you're now staring at the 100th junk email you've received just this week. YUCK! Does this madness ever end? Well just so you know, there are a few actions you can take to sort things out. Naturally you want to know who's sending you what, and if it's even from a legitimate party. I get loads of email that is totally bogus. I despise this. It's time to verify email address with simple software and block incoming messages from the senders you've learned to loath.
Let me give you an example of when you would need to verify email address. Let's say you're skimming through a job website, searching for listings relevant to your field of work. Craig's list is a perfect example. Obviously if you spot something that tweaks your interest, you're going to want to respond to it. So what is the email address provided? I wonder if you can trust it. For someone such as myself, this matters a great deal. I routinely search for random production companies, who're scouting for original scripts. If one has a post requesting screenplays, and mine fits the bill, I would like to email then a copy if they're on the level. However, so many of them post such brief messages and leave off their previous experience. This makes me leery. No worries. I can take advantage of websites like mailutilities.com. Simply type or paste in the give email address and find out if it's legitimate and truly belongs to someone. God knows it's a cinch to make up a fake one.
It's not just about having to verify email address. You also need to block specific addresses at times. Tell me if this rings a bell. You received an email claiming that you won some large sum of cash via an Internet lottery. Or better yet, and this one is my favorite, you are being asked to handle cash transfers for some foreigner who claims they can't. In return they will give you 10 or 20 percent of the transfer money. Ha! What a laugh that is. Don't kid yourself. This is clearly garbage. They just want to get their grimy hands on your personal information. So what you need to do is take their email address and add it to your Block Senders list. Pretty much all email accounts offer this wonderful feature. Use it!
