Glow In Dark Stars To Decorate A Child's Room

By: Lane Klein

Dreaming is a wonderful aspect of life. Our dreams allow us access to places our physical bodies can't go, or surreal environments that don't even exist. They're certainly a kind of escapism. And whether we like it or not, we're going to dream each time we fall asleep. But, is it possible to dream while we're still awake? Of course it is; hence the term daydreaming. Our minds can float off into nowhere land at any given time. All it generally takes is a little inspiration. Maybe it's the boring lecture you're listening to in a literature class, or the drab cubicle surrounding you at work. Of course there are more positive motivators as well. Take glow in dark stars for example. You can literally plaster these all over your bedroom walls, and when the sun drops, look out. Your mind will venture all over the place.

I like to get as close to outer-space as possible, but without actually hopping on a space shuttle. One way I do this is through dreaming. I love the very concept of dreams. I don't think any of us could exist without them. They allow me to do so much and so many places. Beyond the earth's atmosphere is merely one of them. It's kind of funny, but we play off of the things we see. You may not realize it, but we all do it. Those glow in dark stars on your bedroom wall or the Discovery channel special you watched on astronomy. These things can impact your dreams. They offer your mind something to build on. Personally, I tend to dream about the things I ponder most. Space is definitely one of these things. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that my daughter has glow in dark stars, a detailed mobile of the planets and a Milky Way scene painted on her bedroom wall. The girl is infatuated with astronomy and outer space as well. I guess I passed it on. She told me she loves lying awake at night and just gazing at the bright glow in dark stars that surround her. She said it makes her feel as though she's floating in space sometimes. This is the way it should be when you're a child.

Don't be afraid to decorate your child's room with glow in dark stars, realistic planet mobiles and astronomy models. Just as we are, children are enticed and in awe of outer space. They too want to dream and imagine what lies beyond the planet earth.
