Finding A Sock Monkey Pattern |

When my sister said that she was looking for a sock monkey pattern I immediately pictured a hand puppet. This image should exemplify how little I actually know about sewing. The quest for the sock monkey pattern was really lost to me but I couldn’t help but become curious about the project.
My curiosity was enticed by my sister’s hysterical laughter when I asked her why she wanted to use a sock monkey pattern for the puppet. “What puppet?” she asked. My answer unwittingly let her know how remarkably different she and I really are. “Well, the monkey puppet that you’re going to make out of the sock, stupid.”
After she got her composure back she decided that it would be best if we let the subject rest. I just couldn’t understand. Of course, this made me even more curious about the sock monkey pattern than ever before. I also was kind-of intrigued by her amazement that I had no idea what the thing really was.
As curious as I was I wasn’t motivated enough to research the sock monkey pattern myself. After all, what was I going to do with the thing? I don’t own a needle or thread and even if there was no sewing involved I just didn’t feel motivated enough to look into the subject any further.
That was until I was watching the Food Network. Okay, I watch people cook just so I can rationalize why I don’t cook. I’ll never be that successful in the kitchen and why should I try to cook when there are paid professionals who will do it? I’m not one to take another person’s job.
So what does the Food Network have to do with a sock monkey pattern? In this case: everything. I was watching pastry chefs put together the most amazing cakes for a competition. This is my way of virtually feeding my sweet tooth. I was pretty impressed with most of the design and feeling pretty comfy watching the action when lo and behold a sock monkey pattern emerged on the scene.
One of the cakes in the contest was a sock monkey. And yes, I do know what one is. I was so moved by the presentation that I decided to look up the information about the cake on the Internet. I also decided to forward the sock monkey pattern for the cake to my sister. I figured that she had no idea that this cake even existed.
