Alarm systems have really revolutionized my life. I used to think that getting a burglar system installed was just giving into paranoia. After all, I live in a pretty safe part of town. People really watch after each other here, and there has not been a reported burglary all year. Nonetheless, my wife convinced me to install an alarm system.
She said it would help her to put her mind at ease, and I have to admit that it has worked. Ever since the alarm installation, she has slept better. And when she sleeps better, I sleep better. You see, when she can't sleep because of anxieties, she tosses and turns all night. With the alarm system, however, she knows that our home is secure.
We have a complete home security system. It isn't just a simple burglar alarm – it has the works. We have alarms on the windows and doors, proximity lights outside, And a security camera installed in the front hall. I thought the camera was a little bit over the top, but she convinced me to do it anyway. I figure that if spending a few hundred dollars plus monitoring fees could put her at ease, it was alright with me.
Of course, our home is not the only place where we use an alarm. Nowadays, we have alarm systems on pretty much everything. I have been using a club for my car for many months, which seems to me to be a really good low-tech solution. I don't need remote monitoring of my car. If I've got a club on it, no one can steal it anyway. My wife, however, has a car alarm system. It has remote start, satellite tracking – the works.
Recently, we even got a medical alarm for her father. You see, he has been getting old and we are a little bit worried about him. In general he is okay, but he has a lot of anxiety about falling and hurting himself. We figure that, if an alarm system could work, why not get it? After all, if something happens to him, he will still be able to press the alarm and get some help.
To me, alarm systems are an obvious buy. It's not so much that I'm worried about getting robbed. It's more that I'm worried about being worried. Anything the can put your mind at ease and give you one less thing to feel nervous about is a good deal in my opinion.
