Kitchen Remodeling Layout Blunders

By: Nicky Patterson

A lot of people are so intent on getting what they want for their kitchen that they forget about the simple things that should be avoided when doing a kitchen remodeling layout. In most cases, people tend to think only of themselves and their specific needs when doing kitchen remodeling layout and forget about the fact that sooner or later, some other people will have to use their kitchen. If you are on the process of design your kitchen, here are some of the things that you might want to avoid.

Do Not Insist On Putting A Kitchen Triangle In Your Kitchen

If you are one of those people who grow up watching your dad or your mom work in the kitchen triangle, that does not mean that you absolutely have to have one in your own kitchen. Yes, a kitchen triangle can be quite helpful but if you have a large kitchen, putting a kitchen triangle in the middle of your kitchen is not appropriate. Instead of including a kitchen triangle in your kitchen remodeling design, consider designing workstations. Workstations are definitely more welcoming in a large kitchen than the traditional kitchen triangle.

Your Kitchen Should Not Be Good For One Person Only

Even if you are currently single and living all by yourself it is not enough reason to design your kitchen for a single person only. Unless you have finally decided to become a hermit and live in solitude for the rest of your life, you should never make your kitchen remodeling layout good for one person only. Think of the future when you design your new kitchen. Even if you have no plans of getting married and having kids, you are bound to share your kitchen with somebody in the future so make sure that you make your kitchen big enough for more than one person. Besides, it is always nice to have plenty of spaces to move around when you prepare your food in the kitchen so if you can afford it, there is really no point in limiting your kitchen space.

Do Not Scrimp On Storage Spaces

When it comes to a kitchen remodeling layout, never scrimp on storage spaces. It doesn’t matter if you have no present plans of storing plenty of food and other things in your kitchen. Things usually accumulate in your home over time so you need to provide space for these things well in advance to prevent overcrowding. Besides, a kitchen that has enough space for everything will surely look well put together.
