People around the world take great pleasure in viewing the birds that fly overhead and perch on trees or birdbaths. These people do not usually study the birds in a scientific manner, but they just enjoying watching these lovely creatures. The people around the world involved in back yard bird watching view different types of birds, and they view different types of birds through the course of a year as these creatures migrate from one part of the world to another. Although many of these bird watchers join national and international groups and travel extensively to view birds, some people do all of their back yard bird watching in a lounge chair while sipping a delightful beverage.
Back yard bird watching often means planning the vegetation and architecture of the back yard to attract many birds. There are many things that devoted bird watchers can do to lure the birds to their back yard so they do not have to go traipsing about to view new and different birds. A person interested in attracting birds for some back yard bird watching will want to provide plants that attract the birds. They also do not want to have anything that will scare the birds away.
Provide Food And Nourishment For Back Yard Bird Watching
Birds do not fly about just to get some exercise or to flap their wings. They are out there looking for some food. Back yard bird watching will be better in a place where there is something for the birds to eat. They will flock to an area with something to chew on. Plants with berries planted along the perimeter of an area will probably attract many birds. Trees and shrubs with berries are available for planting. The devoted bird watcher can sit there and watch them arrive. Evergreen trees are also usually very attractive to birds because these trees protect them from strong winds.
Besides looking for food, birds are also looking for some water. A source of water will attract birds so back yard bird watching will be the best. A birdbath, a waterfall or a pond will provide a great attraction for birds in the area. These features are also very pleasing to the eyes of the bird watchers and their friends as well. Birdhouses are also very popular with birds, and one of these placed strategically with a big enough hole should attract many of the birds in the area.
