Urban gardening can be quite a challenge especially if you live in one of those crowded neighborhoods. However, the good news is that as long as you have the passion for urban gardens, space limitations is not really much of a problem.
Many urban gardeners who are living in big cities and crowded neighborhoods are able to grown their plants in containers and window boxes. In fact, many of these people are able to grow herbs and vegetables all year round.
Finding Space for Your Urban gardens
Urban gardens do not have to take up too much space. If you happen to have access to the rooftop of your apartment building or if you have a small terrace in your apartment, you can already use these places for your urban garden.
The good thing about planting in rooftops and terraces is that these places will ensure that your plants get enough sunlight and air. What is more interesting about these places is that these places is that they do not just offer a good place for your garden, rooftops and terraces are also good places to relax after a very busy and stressful day at work.
In case you do not have a terrace or access to the rooftop, do not despair, you can still grow your plants inside your apartment. You can buy some pots, put some plant in it and then put them near your window. Note that most types of plants will require at least six hours of light to be able to grow properly.
What if you do not have a window, what should you do? If you happen to be one of those unfortunately people who gets to live inside a windowless box, there is still hope for you. You can still have your indoor urban garden even if your place does not get exposed to sunlight at all. How Much Should You Spend for Your Urban Garden?
The cost of your urban garden will depend large on your floor area, your design and the type of plants that you want to have. If you have a large space at your disposal, you will probably need to spend a few hundreds of dollars to get started.
To get a clear picture as to how much you will need to spend for your urban garden, it would be a good idea for you to visit your local garden shops and take a look around. You may also ask for quotations of prices for the materials and supplies that you will need for your urban garden.
