Some teenagers fresh out of high school dread the University experience. All they can ponder is the next four years of their lives being filled with exams, homework and late-night cramming. I think we can all see the downside of that. Especially when you've just spent the past 13 years of your life in school. The mere thought of being stuck in the academic mode for the next four years sounds a bit gut-wrenching. Nevertheless, countless high school grads take the plunge. They're anxious to take life by the horns and become successful as an adult. As for the others, who have no drive to grapple with a University career, there's always a technical college around the corner. Maybe what you're looking for is a two-year degree.
When I graduated from high school back in the 1990s, I wasn't stoked about heading off to college. I felt like I was done with the homework and teacher routine. After speaking with my parents a bit, I ended up choosing a technical college. To be more specific, the school is called Durham Technical Community College. Since I resided in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the time, this school was the perfect distance for me. Naturally I didn't know what to expect from a junior college. I had my doubts, but in reality I had nothing to compare it to. Once I got started with a few classes, I was loving it. The atmosphere was great, and I had plenty of peers to socialize with and relate to. The professors were wonderful and offered plenty of one-on-one time, if needed. And the best part was that all of my credits were valid, regardless of what University I transferred to, if I wished to do so. You can't really beat that. I encountered a multitude of students at the technical college, who were there for a two-year degree. Most of them were interested in computers. I must say, there are plenty of careers available these days for the computer savvy.
Are you considering a technical school for your future education? Trust me; this is not a bad route to follow. Just be clear on what it is you want to do in the future. A degree of any kind is only good to those who actually use it to their advantage. Find a technical school in your area that's accredited and highly recommended.
