Table Tennis Table And Equipment

By: Baily Richards

If you’ve never played a game of ping pong in your life, you have absolutely no idea what you are missing. This sport not only keeps you on your toes but it works all the muscles in your body, including your brain. It’s a perfect pastime for families and with a table tennis table in the home everyone can become an expert in no time at all.

Trying to decide exactly what model to get can be a bit tricky. If you only plan on playing every once in a while you’re going to want a table tennis table that folds up and can be stored. These are typically the least expensive type and once you get it home, you can have it up and ready for play in virtually minutes. One drawback to this type of ping pong table is that they tend to not be as sturdy as some of the others.

Many homes just don’t have ample room for both a pool table and a ping pong table. There is a solution to this and it’s a good one. You can actually purchase a pool table that transforms into a table tennis table. This is much more complicated to assemble and not something you can easily move around. Expect to pay more for a dual purpose games table like this.

Having one outside is becoming more and more popular in warmer climates. With a proper cover a table tennis table can easily withstand both rain and wind. One of the advantages of placing it outdoors is all the room you’ll have and it’s also a wonderful addition to any backyard parties you may host. In fact, don’t be surprised if all your guests crowd around the table waiting for their chance to play.

Obviously you are going to need more than a table to play. There are other must haves when it comes to playing ping pong. The paddles and balls that are required can be purchased either in a set altogether or individually. Although you may think you only need two paddles to play on your table tennis table, at minimum buy four. Often times you’ll find that people want to pair up and play doubles and you’ll need enough equipment for that.

Kids absolutely love this game and it’s great for teaching them coordination. It’s also a fantastic work-out for them. Set some ground rules though when you let little ones near this game table including no sitting or standing on it and also the paddles are meant to hit the balls not their opponent. Overall you’ll find that once you’ve got one of these in your home, everyone will be itching to play.
