Pillar Candles - Decoration For Any Room

By: Mick Thompson

You have seen them used in almost every type of room, in virtually every home improvement magazine, and on every one of those television shows - pillar candles. Available in every color imaginable, and even in a variety of shapes that slightly alter the traditional cylinder, pillar candles are a must for any décor.

Holidays

Florists use them as the centerpieces for beautiful flower arrangements for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween and even Valentine’s Day. But there is really no need to go to that kind of expense just to have the elegance and beauty offered to any table with a few well-placed pillar candles.

For Christmas, a little holly from the bush outside or some cedar branches from your tree, a few leftover Christmas balls, a little ribbon and a couple of graduated pillar candles, and you have the perfect touch to any holiday table. At Easter, simply cover the bottom of a platter with jelly beans, then add a couple of pastel pillar candles, and you are set for the celebration.

During Thanksgiving, replace the cedar branches with colorful leaves from the yard and add some ribbon to liven things up a bit. For Valentines Day, simply surround your red pillar candles with those candy conversation hearts instead of jelly beans and your centerpiece couldn’t be easier!

More than Just Décor:

Pillar candles can be useful, too. If you are like millions that love a long hot bath, then try lining a shelf with pillar candles, or stuffing a favorite platter with them. They will create a sense of peace for your moment of relaxation, and at a very low cost. Be sure to tell your kids that it’s a mommy-thing, however, or they will demand candles at their bath time, too.

Thanks to television shows like “Trading Spaces,” candle sconces for the walls can be found for remarkably little out of pocket expense. If you have ever considered creating a warm and romantic master bedroom, then pillar candle wall sconces are a must. When lit, they create that warm sensual atmosphere that screams romance and look wonderful during the day as well.

Without a tremendous amount of money, almost any space can be transformed into something beautiful and useful with well-placed pillar candles. If they are to be more than just décor, however, it is important to either buy the dripless variety or purchase soybean wax-based candles, or the mess you end up with may be more than you anticipated.

If you are wondering what to do with a limited budget to decorate that space for everyday use or a holiday, try pillar candles. They are practical as well as pretty, but if you ever plan to place match to wick, then buy the dripless variety and save yourself the agony of the cleanup later.
