Tap Water May Be Safer Than You Think |

Some people don’t like their tap water, but most of it is safe to drink. There are ways to find out if you are okay with your water, but for the most part it would not be coming out of your faucet if it were not safe to drink. There are problems with drinking tap water though, and most of it has to do with the things they must do to it to make is safe to drink. There are also some myths about this water source that some believe and is the reason why they won’t drink such water. Thankfully, most of them are not true.
Tap water is usually much safer than anything that comes from a well. Though tap does not taste as good, it has been cleaned and is safe. There are some exceptions, and each town that offers water must put out a report about the water supply each year. This will say if there are any problems. This can be requested from any water company if needed. When it comes to well water, it can be tested, but it is up to the homeowners to have this done. There is always a chance something is in the water that should not be there.
The main problem people have with tap water is that it tastes funny on occasion. This is why so many have filters in their pipes, or they have a filtered water pitcher in their refrigerator. There are times when I know they have done something to my tap water because it tastes of chlorine. I am told this is safe and it is essential to keep the water clean, but I don’t like to drink it when it has that smell to it. That is when we switch to bottled for a few days until the bad tastes goes away.
There are some who refuse to drink their tap water because they are sure it is recycled. This is not true for the most part. There may be some places that recycle waste water and turn it into city water, but I am not aware of any such place. The water that is recycled is actually cleaner than the water that comes out of the tap, but it is usually released into a river or creek. The tap water is not waste water, and though it would be hard to handle if you knew, you would not know the difference if it was.
