Our great nation is filled with tourist attractions. Surely you've visited a few of these hot-spots in your day. While they're all fun and games to the tourists, it's a bit different when you're actually living in one. I spent a couple of years in North Myrtle Beach SC. Yeah, I'm sure you've at least heard of this tourist trap. Most likely you've been there on spring break or summer vacation. Millions of people flood into this area every year. In short, it's not so grand living in a tourist attraction such as this. The traffic will begin to get on your nerves.
Back when I moved down to North Myrtle Beach SC from Chapel Hill, NC, I really didn't give it much thought. My spouse was offered a great job there and so we decided to give it a shot. In no time at all we figured out what North Myrtle Beach SC was all about. The tourists and their money! I suppose this is to be expected of any tourist hot-spot, but I was still a tad shocked at the lack of amenities. You see, it's not like living in typical city. The stores and routines shops you come to appreciate and depend on are no longer there. Instead you have an utter deluge of restaurants. In fact, this is what is mostly in North Myrtle Beach SC. Restaurants and surf shops. Of course you have the typical candy and trinket shops as well. Anyway, when I first arrived in North Myrtle Beach SC, the principal of my daughter's school informed me that a lot of folks come to Myrtle Beach because they like the ocean front so much, but then they have difficulty finding decent work. So be warned in advance, North Myrtle Beach SC lacks big companies and industries. But, I'm sure you can get a great job as a waiter or waitress. Maybe even a bartender.
So this is the deal; North Myrtle Beach SC is mostly a tourist attraction and not the best for families. During the spring and summer months the traffic increases a ton, so you'd better plan on getting stuck in it a lot if you move there. It's crazy how long you can spend going five miles. On the bright side, there is some fine real estate located in North Myrtle Beach. And you do have the Grand Strand at your fingertips, which is the main strip of the beach. But be aware that it's loaded with college and high school students during spring break.
