Lately, I have found that I’m buying more and more things that are the color pink. I had to buy a large suitcase for travel, and I decided to go with one that was bright pink. This was partially because I liked the color, but also partially for practical reasons. When your suitcase is an unusual or uncommon color, it is very easy to find what you are picking up your luggage from the airport. Many of the other items I have purchased lately have been pink as well, and that was just a matter of liking the color. When I went to buy something for my daughter for Christmas, one of the first things they picked out was a fluffy, pink blanket.
My daughter has been a fan of the Wiggles for a very long time. Even though I have absolutely no problem with this, it does cause a little bit of a problem with her bedroom. The Wiggles’ colors are very masculine in nature, and when you decorate a child’s room with a Wiggles’ theme, you end up with something that looks a little bit less than feminine. I wanted to get her some things for her room to make it a little more girlie. I thought a pink blanket was a great start. I also got her a new comforter, and a canopy to hang over top of her bed. Along with the pink blanket, I also got a pink pillow.
On Christmas morning the pink blanket was the first thing that she opened. Her eyes got very big, and she told me that she loved her new pink blanket because it looked like the colors that a princess would wear. I was glad that she was happy with it, and now her room looks a little more feminine. Even though she still has a lot of Wiggles things in her room, it is beginning to look a little more like a girl lives there. Along with the new ballet mat that she got, I almost think I have a little girl in my house.
One of the first gifts we received when my daughter was a baby was also a pink blanket. This is of course now too small for her to use now, but she has recently asked to use it again. She uses that pink blanket to cover up her puppy at night, and tells me they will be safe when the lights go out because they have matching blankets. I really don’t know much about that, but I know if anything gives her safety and security in the middle of the night I am more than happy to oblige.
