Personal DVD Player - Buying And Selection Tips

By: Terry Olmort

This year for Christmas I wanted to get my daughter a personal DVD player. I guess I did not start shopping soon enough, because I could not find one that I wanted to buy. The ones that were left in the store were either too cheap or too expensive. When I buy this for my daughter, I want to get the best that I can get without having to spend a fortune. We spend a lot of time traveling each year, so this is the perfect thing to keep her occupied in the car.

If you spend a lot of time in the car like we do, you are probably tired of hearing her children ask if you have reached your destination yet. You may also have times when you want to concentrate on driving, and you find that they are asking so many questions that you become distracted. If they have a personal DVD player to watch movies, you will find that they will be much quieter, and much more cooperative when you go on road trips. Even the hour you spend driving between your home and your mother’s home is good enough reason to buy a personal DVD player.

When you go to buy personal DVD player, you do not want to get the cheapest when you can find. I have friends who have one, and they tell me that the cheap ones are not worth it. You want a personal DVD player that will play a DVD flawlessly, and many of the cheaper models will not do this. They often will start out good, but as the movie progress is the picture will become choppy and will skip around. If you buy a more expensive personal DVD player, the picture and sound quality will be much better.

Also remember that a personal DVD player will go through batteries very quickly. You may use rechargeable batteries, but you will still need to have many of them when you go on the road. When you buy your personal DVD player try to get one that comes with a car adapter. When you have a car adapter at your disposal, you will not have to worry about changing the batteries while on the road. Though you will have to contend with a cord running through your car, this is much better and much cheaper than replacing the batteries every half an hour.
