Finding fun and attractive clothes when you are pregnant can be a challenge. If you are already a stay-at-home mom chances are that you are using your maternity wardrobe from your last pregnancy. If this is indeed the case why not buy a few new maternity tee shirts to update your look? There are many that are fun and look great too.
Most pregnant women are given at least a few wardrobe pieces as gifts that poke fun at their expanding mid-section. Who hasn’t seen maternity tee shirts that say things like “baby on board” or “bun in the oven?” These types of maternity tee shirts are more novelty items than regular wardrobe pieces, but for the outgoing mom-to-be she can make them work for her.
Along the same lines you can have your own tops made that express how you are feeling. Some women who know the sex of their baby have already chosen a name. For them, they may want to have maternity tee shirts made that announce the baby’s arrival. This can include the baby’s name along with the ETA. These are a fun item for the mom to wear and also can be packed away to show the little one once they grow up. They are sure to get a kick out of it.
Holiday themed ones are also fun and easy to find. Many women who regularly dress up for Halloween find maternity tee shirts with a spooky theme a great alternative. The same idea carries over the winter holidays where maternity tee shirts sport images of Christmas trees and even Ole Saint Nick.
Even if a woman doesn’t feel comfortable wearing one of these during the day, they make perfect pajama shirts. In fact, many stores sell maternity tee shirts along with pajama bottoms for the expectant mom. They are typically much more comfortable than a regular tee shirt, even a man’s large. Any pregnant woman will attest to the fact that as her belly expands her need to feel comfortable increases too.
They are available in both long and short sleeve styles. If it’s the middle of summer, don’t even consider long sleeve maternity tee shirts. You’ll want to wear as lightweight of clothing as possible, since the summer heat will already have you feeling fairly uncomfortable. It’s also a good idea to opt for light colors in the summer. Stay away from dark blue or black shirts as they only attract the sun’s heat. For the winter months, long sleeve maternity tee shirts can add an extra layer of warmth under a sweater or jacket.
These inexpensive fashion staples should be part of the foundation of an expecting woman’s wardrobe. Don’t pack them away right after the baby is born though, as it feels nice to wear loose fitting garments the first few weeks after delivery and these are ideal for that.
