Lasik Vision Correction Surgery For Bad Eyesight, Including Astigmatism

   By: Casey Howard

I have had to wear glasses since I was 12 years old. For the longest time I refused to try contact lenses because I was afraid they would drive me crazy. Finally, at age 30, I went to get contact lenses for my eyes. While I love them, I am looking forward to the day when I can get LASIK vision correction. I have wanted to get this eye surgery for the longest time, but I was afraid to get it when it first came out. Even though I am sure the doctors know what they are doing, I didn't think it would hurt to wait until most of them have had years of practice.

Thankfully, I have not heard any horror stories about people getting LASIK vision correction. I have been keeping an eye on new stories involving this type of eye surgery to see if anyone has had a bad experience. While I realized there may have been a few bad surgeries, I have not heard anything too horrible yet. My main hesitation with getting LASIK vision correction is that I am not sure I want to take the chance with my eyes. Things may go smoothly, but then again, they may not.

I have heard that LASIK vision correction can even help those with astigmatism. This is good news for me because I have an astigmatism in my right eye. Though my contacts are comfortable for the most part, they are in extra expense and a pain when I'm traveling. If I were to get LASIK vision correction I would not have to mess with glasses, contacts, or contact solution again. Though I would have to have regular eye checkups to make sure everything was OK, I think the surgery would remove at least one hassle from my life.

LASIK vision correction will be something I will look into in the next two years. Though I feel pretty confident that the procedure has been perfected, I will have to save up the money for the surgery. There are plenty of places in my community to get LASIK vision correction, and I want to make sure I choose the correct place. I want to be comfortable with where am going before I trust somebody with my eyes. It's not that I don't trust the doctors, but as far as I'm concerned, the more practice they have before I enter the establishment, the more comfortable I will be about having a laser mucking around in my eyes.
