Stained Glass Window Information

   By: Dakota Ulrich

I have always adored stained glass window panes. When I was a child, I used to love to be sitting in the chapel, looking out the church stained glass windows. The way the light filtered through into the church, it made me really believe what the preacher was saying. I could almost feel the love of God bombarding the chapel because of the beautiful colors of the stain glass windows. Although kids like all things that are shiny, glowing, or colorful, my love of windows stained glass lasted far beyond childhood. I would go to art museums and spend hours looking at the medieval stained glass window displays. Anything with colored glass continued to fascinate me into adulthood

My children know about my love of stained glass window hangings. For the past three years, they have always collaborated on those paint-your-own stained glass window kits and made me one for my birthday. It was nice to be appreciated by my children, and their gift made me really start to think about how I would like to decorate my house. I have never believed in spending a lot of money on lavish decorations. My furniture has always been simple and functional, and I have kept renovations in my house to a minimum. However, the more I thought about it, the more that I wanted to have my own stained glass windows in my living room.

Now buying windows stained glass is no simple matter. Most people purchasing stained glass windows usually order a custom job. Although you can order a factory made stained glass window – and you can save Quite a bit of money with this approach – there are a lot of problems with it. You need to have it installed by professional, you see. You can install normal windows yourself, but if you install a stained glass window by hand, you are just asking for trouble. You may pay up to a thousand dollars for one stained glass window pane. Can you imagine breaking that while trying to install it? It would be a nightmare!

I found a beautiful Tiffany stained glass window that fit the bill perfectly. Although the company did not offer installation, I was fortunate enough to have a friend who knows all about stained glass windows. He installed it himself for a reasonable rates. It is absolutely gorgeous, and it adds a unique touch to my house. It was worth the expense.
