Smarties Candies For Halloween, Parties, And Plain Fun!

By: Dakota Ulrich

When Halloween hits it’s not just kids that love the sweet goodies that are everywhere. Parents often sneak a treat or two of their own from the candy dish while they are awaiting the arrival of the ghosts and goblins. One type that everyone loves is Smarties candies. These rolls of tart little tasty bites make your taste buds jump to life.

The one problem with the small size treats that appear on store shelves in October in anticipation of Halloween is that they seem to disappear as soon as November comes. This can be discouraging for people who really enjoy something like Smarties candies. Trying to find them other times of the year can be a struggle, unless you know where to look.

Many party supply stores carry fun candies like this on a regular basis. Many parents who are hosting birthday or holiday parties for their children want to give each attendee a little treat bag to take home. Putting pencils, small toys and Smarties candies in them is a great idea. The party store is likely to have large bags of these candies and they don’t need to know that you are taking them all home to keep for yourself.

Online vendors also often sell specialty food items, including confectionary treats. You may feel a bit apprehensive about ordering something edible like Smarties candies online but it’s actually very safe and if you deal with a respected and well-established site, it’s as secure as buying at a local store.

Even though you may think that the only real usage for this treat is to gobble them up, if you have kids in the house you can actually use them for different crafts. One really fun thing to do is to build a Smarties candies log house. With just a bit of thick icing and some willing hands you can stack up the rolls of candies to resemble a house. Hold each row together with the icing and add some decorative touches. Although it’s fun to display this as an alternative gingerbread house for the holidays, it’s a wonderful craft for any child on a rainy day.

A fun bug is another craft project the kids will love, especially because it involves one of their very favorite things, candy! Using pipe cleaners and small colored pom-poms you can use Smarties candies to make a bug. For this craft you will be using actual glue so the roll of candies used as the body of the bug won’t be edible. The trade-off is that the child can create a bug from their imagination and keep it in their room. Both boys and girls love this innovative craft idea.
