Slide And Hide Tower In Your Backyard

By: Glen Jackson

Summer means outside playtime for small children. They relish being out in the sun playing in a sandbox, swinging on a swing or climbing anything they can get close to. For a parent who wants to keep their little ones occupied throughout the day, investing in some innovative toys that will not only stimulate their brains but exercise their bodies is a great idea. One toy that all little kids adore is the Slide and Hide Tower by Little Tykes. This well-constructed piece of outdoor play equipment is ideal for kids from two years of age to eight depending on their size.

If you already have a swing set in the backyard this is a welcome addition. It is easy to build and incredibly sturdy, which can’t be said for every piece of playground equipment being sold today. It seems to be much easier to put the Slide and Hide Tower together if two people are working in unison. This might be a chance for mom and dad to drop the kids off at a sitter, go purchase the toy and put it together as a surprise. Imagine the look of delight on a youngster’s face when they walk into their yard and see it waiting for them.

You’ve probably frequented a playground or two periodically with your youngster and noticed that there’s rarely grass beneath the play equipment. The reason for this is simple and it’s because children fall and if your child falls off the Slide and Hide Tower onto grass they just might get hurt. Even though the unit is fairly short in dimensions, an injury can still occur. Therefore it’s a good idea to position it on a softer surface. Sand or wood chips both make a great foundation for the toy and are a much safer choice.

When you open the box you’ll find several pieces that need to be put together. The toy itself consists of a small ladder, a platform, two slides and walls. The walls have small cut-outs which allows for children to crawl through. It’s amazing just how many activities a child can enjoy with the Slide and Hide Tower. They aren’t likely to get bored with this anytime soon.

One concern that parents often have is that a toy like this will collapse when several children are on it at once. This isn’t going to happen with the Slide and Hide Tower as long as you’ve put it together according to the instructions included in the box. If you are wary about assembling it, you can always pay a little extra to have the store you purchased it at do that for you and have them deliver it. It’s important to note that the Slide ‘n Hide Tower can actually hold upwards of six hundred pounds of weight which is quite a few children.

It can remain outside throughout the winter as it’s constructed of a very durable plastic. If you happen to live in a climate where it does snow, be very careful about allowing children on it as ice or snow can make the surfaces very slippery and a bit dangerous. For this reason, explain to your little one that they need to wait until spring to climb and slide again. They’ll likely be counting the days.
