Coming up with the right present ideas can be really challenging sometimes. In general, I consider myself a very empathic person. Usually, when one of my good friends has something bothering him or her, I can tell just what it is without even asking. I always remember people's birthday parties, and never forget to call during other important occasions as well. Nevertheless, finding a present idea is incredibly difficult for me. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to pick out the perfect gift.
It isn't that I don't come up with any present ideas, but rather that I come up with too many of them. Every time I think of a friend, I can think of at least half a dozen present ideas for things that I want to get them, but no single one stands out. How can I pick out the perfect present idea when I cannot narrow it down any further. It can be pretty easy for me to find presents for people I don't know that well. Usually, I can think of something pretty generic that would work for almost anyone. I will get them a nice shirt, a board game, or something like that. However, when the gift is for someone who really matters to me, the present idea usually eludes me.
The best way to come up with present ideas is to bring a friend with you. I have a great friend who always helps me come up with the perfect present idea. She is a professional party planner, so she knows all about birthday presents and other gifts and, usually, she comes up with such a brilliant present idea that I am surprised that I didn't think of it myself That is just her genius!
Of course, a really great present idea when all else fails is to give money to a charity in the name of whoever you are buying a present for. Most of us already have too much, and the holidays are just a time for us take accumulate more stuff that we do not need. This is why charity makes such good sense as a present idea. In this rich country, we already have so much that the holidays should be a time for us to think about those less fortunate. I know that most of the people who I have gifted with this present idea have been quite happy with it.
