Personalized Stationary For Writing

   By: Jean Houston

Handwritten letters have sadly become a rarity these days. In an age where everyone sends emails, it's a pleasant surprise to receive a thank-you or sympathy note in your real mailbox, not the inbox on your computer. It shows that the sender was thoughtful enough to take the time to write you a special note, stamp it and mail it. When they use personalized stationery it's even more meaningful.

At one time if you wanted envelopes and note paper with your name embossed on it, you'd have to visit a local print shop. You can still do that today if you are looking for personalized stationery but with a home computer and a good quality printer, you can create you own professional version at home. It's just as nice and much less expensive.

There is a variety of different software programs designed to help even a novice make their own professional looking stationery. However, if you already have a word processing program installed on your computer that will work just fine too. It really depends on how you want the finished product to look and if you want any extra embellishments such as clip art added to it.

Every style varies somewhat but traditionally you'll want your name printed near the top of the paper. For personalized stationery you can include your address as well. However, it will obviously be on your personalized envelopes so you can leave it off the notepaper itself if you prefer.

Choose good quality bond paper for printing your stationery on. You can use white or cream, both of these make elegant notes. If you are a bit more adventurous you can choose lavender, pink or blue. Your local office supply store will have a wide selection of printer paper.

It's a good idea to have a supply on hand for when you do want to send out a special note to someone. Printing a few sheets of personalized paper as well as envelopes at once seems to work well. You can then store them in your home office, along with some stamps for easy use.

So forgo the email route from time to time and take a few moments out of your day to write a few notes to people special to you. You really don't even need a special occasion to update someone on what's going on in your life while asking about how they are. After receiving your note on your personalized stationery they may be inclined to make some of their own and in a few weeks you'll have a surprise in your mailbox too.
