Personal Profile For Dating Online

By: Sky Hudgins

Those who are new to online dating might make a lot of mistakes in their personal profile. There are even some who have been around for a while that make the same mistakes. Though what someone puts into their profile is up to them, there are two things that any person should avoid doing no matter how tempting it might be. The first would be to lie about anything, including photograph, and also spilling too much information.

When someone lies on their personal profile, they might get dates, but the dates are going to flop because the person responding is expecting something else. If they are let down, you might as well forget them calling back to for a second date. Never embellish or lie in your personal profile or you aren’t going to have much luck. Not only will you go on one disappointing date after another, the community where you post your personal profile will soon be wise to you. When that happens, no one will be interested.

Along the same lines as keeping the personal information correct, you should remember to make sure you are using a current picture of you and only you. Don’t use your friend, a model, or some random person you found online. There may be no bigger deception in online dating. Though you may think you aren’t that attractive, someone else might think differently when they see your personal profile. However, if you are the most personable and witty person in the world no one is going to trust you if you present a photo of someone else. What exactly would happen when you met in person anyway? They are going to be upset that you lied, and they are going to think you are not trustworthy. Not exactly the foundation for a long lasting relationship.

When filling out a personal profile, it is important to leave something to the imagination. Don’t be too specific about things, but put enough in to say who you really are as a person. When you go into too much detail, people might be turned off by one small thing and won’t give you a chance. If you are brief, yet honest, someone has time to be interested without deciding you aren’t right for them before you even have a chance to show them who you really are. Keep the personal profile informative but brief. A little mystery is always a very good thing, especially in the dating world.
