There are many times when I want to go out and see a movie with my husband, but I am too tired to move. That is when I am grateful for pay per view on my television. It’s not the same as going out to see a movie, and the movies are older, but I don’t care. I can still find something that I want to watch, and usually there are many I would like to see. This means I have a great a variety from which to choose.
One great thing about pay per view is that some of these choices are now free. I think these are called ‘on demand,’ but they work in the very same manner as traditional pay per view. You just find what you want to watch and you click on it. Many of these are things that are on HBO, and you can also find free music, kids shows, and some stations have almost all of their programming available this way, as long as you actually get that station. If you miss a movie or program, and you forgot to tape it, this type of ‘on demand’ is just what you need.
You can also find many special events on pay per view. You can usually get boxing and other sporting events, WWE wrestling, concerts, and all sorts of special events. Usually these have a bigger price tag than the movies do. I know that WWE wresting specials often go for 30 or even 50 dollars. I guess it’s a relief that my brother has moved so far away now, and is not asking me if he can get pay per view wrestling on my television. They usually happen once a month, and that can add up rather quickly.
Though many said that pay per view would die when NetFlix gained popularity, I don’t think that is the case. Though Netflix certainly is convenient, it is still not as fast as pay per view. You do have to wait for the post office to deliver your movies before you can watch them. You can also find things on pay per view that you cannot yet get on DVD. Though these mail movie systems might take a bite out of the pay to view type programs, I don’t think they are going to disappear any time soon. Now that digital phone is becoming common, the cable companies are getting some of their customers back, and this means more paying for movies at home, all the way around.
