I went through a lot of bad jobs before I found what made me feel good inside. There are many people like me who flounder around in bad jobs because they simply don’t know what they want to do. Though there are some who know from a very young age, there are more who have no idea. For the longest time I thought that if I went to school to train for office jobs I would finally be happy. This just wasn’t for me after all, but there are many who enjoy this type of job and work atmosphere.
I remember having jobs that were okay for the most part, but I longed for something that made me feel like I was doing something productive. Most jobs are productive, but there are some that feel like a waste of time and they are not fulfilling. Office jobs don’t always save the world, but some of them do. Don’t think of office jobs as for profit, money-hungry companies. Many of the ones I applied for were for non-profit type places, and the jobs would have made a difference. I didn’t get any of them, but they were what I was aiming for at the time.
The office jobs I got were mostly administrative assistant jobs, but though I thought they would be ideal for me, they turned out not to be. However, many of the other women I worked with loved what they did, and they said that they felt at home in the office setting. In fact, I seemed to be the odd woman out, but that has always been the way it has been for me. They felt fulfilled, and they often came from backgrounds that indicated they would never have a good life. Through this type of work, they proved everyone wrong. They weren’t the highest paying jobs in the world, but they did pay well and they were great jobs in an industry that always needs more help.
Finding office jobs will be easier with a degree, but they are not always necessary. There are some degrees you can get online, and others can be found in business colleges and technical schools. Many of these places offer job placement, and will help with, at the very least, some of the first office jobs a graduate will have. Some begin these jobs as a receptionist and move up the ladder through hard work. Learning the business and applying hard work will almost always guarantee promotions throughout a career. It’s amazing how many people don’t get that.
