Throwing A Horse Birthday Party

By: Nicky Patterson

I do not know why having a horse theme birthday party never occurred to me before. My daughter has always loved horses, so a horse birthday party is the natural choice. Nonetheless, I have never picked of that as the theme before. She has certainly never asked for one. She is notoriously indecisive. She has not asked for horse birthday parties, Rainbow Brite birthday parties, or any of the other birthday parties that we have had for her. Nonetheless, she has enjoyed every one. She has a lot of trouble making decisions, so we have to choose for her. She is a very well behaved girl, but sometimes I wish I had a more willful child. It would make it easier to know when she is happy and when she is not.

Putting together the horse birthday party was a snap compared to some of the other ones. If you're planning a birthday party based around a cartoon, you have to know everything about the show. You have to know the good guys on the show, the bad guys, the storyline, and other details as well. A horse birthday party, by contrast, is easy. You decorate with horse decorations, you have a cake shaped like a horse, and you have party favors with a horse theme to them. Nothing could be simpler!

The only problem with the horse birthday party was deciding whether or not to have an actual horse there. On the one hand, it seems like no horse birthday party would be complete without a real horse. You can give birthday party pony rides, let the kids pet the horse, and maybe even learn a thing or two about horses in real life. The problem is that horse birthday parties start to get expensive once you get a real live horse there.

Besides that, horses are difficult. The logistics are really problematic. You have to clean up after the horse, you have to make sure that the neighborhood is zoned for a proper horse birthday party, and you have to make sure that none of the kids coming to the party have horse allergies. I didn't know if it was worth the trouble, and if it weren't for the fact that my daughter has loved horses for years, I probably would not have had one come to the party. Nonetheless, I wanted her horse birthday party to be complete. I opted to have the horse after all.
