All About Concert Tours

By: Sam Dillon

Music is big business, and many love the experience of going to concert shows to see their favorite artists. It is hard to see them often because they generally only come around once in a two year period, but some do more extensive touring. There are others that tour very rarely, and that makes tickets almost impossible to get. They do this for their own reasons, but they do make it harder on fans when they do that. Seats are hard enough to get, but when they only tour once in ten years, it is darn near impossible.

This was the case a few months ago when my husband found out that Steely Dan was doing a small series of concert shows. They had not toured in a long time, and it is customary for them to space out tours. There were two venues near us where they would be appearing, but my husband failed to secure a ticket for either one. Not only had they not put on any concert shows in a long time, they also chose very small venues for this upcoming appearances. Unless he wants to spend a fortune through a scalper, I don’t think he is going to go.

Other bands tour more often than that, as long as the demand for their concert shows remains strong. Usually a person can find a few shows nearby so they can choose where they want to go, as long as they don’t mind a little driving. Larger concert shows only go to larger cities, but most live within a comfortable driving distance to such a city. It really depends on how badly someone wants to see an artist perform live. Some perform too often, and the demand goes down. This causes them to go to smaller towns and venues, which can be a bonus for fans who don’t like to travel to see shows.

When looking for concert shows in your area, you could sign up for Ticketmaster alerts. These will come by email and will give you the latest information about concert shows that are coming to your area. You can even set up what area if you love to travel. Though not everything will be of interest, you can find out about tours this way. You can also keep an eye on your favorite performers website. Quite often the news of a tour will come from that source before it can be found anywhere else.
