Bicycle Manufacturer - What You Need To Know

By: Brett Franklin

When I was a kid, bicycle accessories were a simple matter. I would stick cards in the spokes to make it click as they went around, buy new lights that shined brighter, or paint the bike in a variety of different colors. I didn't care about the bike manufacturer – I wasn't even really aware of it. All I knew was that my bicycle was cool, and that it would look faster with red stripes diagonally across the frame.

Back then, of course, my bike riding was limited to about a mile. I could go to school, come back, bike to my best friend's house, and go play at the local park. That was it. I did not worry about bicycle manufacturers because I did not need a particularly good bike. Mine was fit to suit my needs. Nowadays, however, I have become a much more serious biker. Having the right bicycle manufacturer has become all important to me.

You see, once you are doing 30, 40, or even 50 miles a day, you have to make sure that you have the right equipment. If you do not have a well manufactured bike, you will notice right away. The gears will be less smooth, causing a greater workload. The frame will be heavier and less stiff, not only increasing the amount of weight you have to carry with you, but also decreasing the life of the bike. The wheels will not be as good or well-calibrated as with top of the line bicycle manufacturer bikes, And the tires will be more likely to pop. You don't want to run into equipment failure on the road, so you should get a bike made by the best bicycle manufacturer that you can possibly find.

The problem is that well made bikes can cost a fortune. If you get a bike made to entry-level specs by the bicycle manufacturer, you can get one that works pretty well for 200 or 300 dollars. The top-of-the-line bikes, however, cost as much as 10 times as much. Before you buy a bike like that, you had better be sure that you are going to use it a lot. Otherwise, you are simply wasting your money. The other problem with buying a high-end bicycle manufacturer bike Is that it is much more likely to be stolen. People will steal Any bicycle accessory they can find off of it even if they can't actually swipe the frame. You had better be careful with your new bike!
