Internet Chat - Hit The Cyber Scene!

By: Hunter Jones

There's nothing wrong with an occasional chat room. Personally I find it amusing and entertaining to hop on the web and watch others converse about absolutely nothing. You can join the Internet chat without even saying much. Okay, maybe I'm the only one who does this randomly. For all of you hardcore cyber chatters out there, you may find it necessary to join in and meet new people. This is totally understandable. We live in a different time now and new forms of communication are at our fingertips. It's a wonderful thing to say the least. Just be careful who you're conversing with. It's easy to hide behind text.

Have you even got the feeling someone or something was not what it seemed? I certainly have. I can't help but think that so many online chatters are not who they claim to be. I may see the screen name Hottie1989, but think that it's really some old man with a twisted mind. There's really no way of determining who it is without getting the police or FBI involved. It's clear at this point that Internet chat rooms offer plenty of mystery. In short, I hardly think you can truly trust who it is you're speaking with. Well, unless you know them personally. There have already been countless occasions where older men have duped young kids into meeting them somewhere secluded. Obviously their intentions are poor.

Since the beginning of Internet chat rooms, plenty of nuances have hit the cyber scene. Now there are websites such as Facebook.com and Myspace.com. Teens and adults alike are posting their info and pictures all over these websites, and chatting with infinite strangers. Sadly to say, it's a playground for pedophiles and sexual deviants. Since you can pose as whom ever you please on these websites, there's really no limit to the deceiving going on. When it comes down to it, playing with Internet chat rooms and new-age web forums requires plenty of responsibility, and often parental guidance. So the next time your teen or pre-teen gets online for a little Internet chat, I suggest you monitor who they're conversing with and what they're talking about.
