Pluses And Minuses Of Conditioner Shampoo

By: Jordan Thompson

When I was growing up, my mother loved my natural curls, but she wasn’t sure how to care for them. She always bought me the conditioner shampoo that put both products into one bottle. She knew my hair was more fragile, and that I needed conditioner, but she didn’t know that these products don’t work every well. I have fought with my hair my whole life, and I know that even though these might seem to be convenient, they do nothing for those with natural curls.

In theory, the conditioner shampoo concoction would have time and some money for those with healthy hair. Those with curls know that they don’t have what would be considered healthy hair, and that they need to give their curls a little more tender loving care. My husband could easily use this type of conditioner shampoo mix without issue, but I never could. He bought it once thinking I would use it too, but that wasn’t going to happen. I have to buy salon products to keep my hair looking nice. I’ve tried everything else on the planet, and this is all that works for me.

I don’t think I’ve seen many of the conditioner shampoo mixes on the shelves lately, but that might just be because I don’t buy my shampoo in the grocery or drug store any longer, and I don’t go into those aisles very often. I do have to buy some shampoo for my daughter once in a while, but her shampoo is somewhere different from the adult brands. If they still make the conditioner shampoo mix, I have not seen it advertised on television and I don’t recall seeing it in any other home I have been in lately.

I can’t even imagine how this type of product would really work. The shampoo and the conditioner do two different tings completely, and I can’t imagine mixing them into a conditioner shampoo goo would do what each should do. Shampoo cleans, and the conditioner helps soften and detangle. Though we do one after the other, they are really two entirely different things. This is a convenient idea, but it’s not a very practical one. Saved time is wasted time if the product or action just doesn’t work. It’s like combining paint with a finish. It might work okay, but it’s not the better option and won’t work the same or look the same when the walls have dried. It might take more time, but some things should always be separate.
