Bullet Proof Vest - Life Saving Clothing |

Many law enforcement officers throughout the world owe their life to their bullet proof vest. At the same time, many officers have died in the line of duty while wearing a bullet proof vest. While a bullet proof vest is a layer of protective clothing that many law enforcement officers do wear, they have fallen into the hands of our enemies more than a few times. It isn’t uncommon for a criminal to be wearing one of these protective vests when in a potentially dangerous situation. By wearing such clothing, it protects those individuals who police need to be protected from.
Of course, a bullet proof vest doesn’t mean that it can protect someone from all kinds of bullets and injuries. A bullet from a shotgun can penetrate through the vest without hesitation. A criminal wielding a sharp weapon, such as a knife, just may be able to penetrate the bullet proof vest as well. An interesting fact is that when a bullet does make contact with the bullet proof vest, it is absorbed and deformed before it can reach the skin. It doesn’t just reflect the bullets. When the bullets are absorbed into the vest, the wearer of the bullet proof vest will still feel the energy of the impact. The impact can still have quite an effect. The wearer may end up with intense bruising or some blunt force trauma. Though wearers may still suffer some injuries, at least there will not be any bullet holes that end a life prematurely.
Quite often, criminals are more than aware that the police are wearing a bullet proof vest. If they are serious about causing bodily injury, they’ll aim for the uncovered parts of the body. As everyone knows, a bullet proof vest only covers your chest and mid-section. That leaves quite a few body parts vulnerable to harm. However, since a bullet proof uniform has yet to be invented and would be rather impractical, our officers put their lives on the line every single day. An ordinary traffic stop can end fatally. Anything can happen. When officers put their uniforms on each day, complete with their bullet proof vests, they know that they are still risking their lives. That’s a chance that they are all willing to take.
Our military has issued new bullet proof vests that are supposed to protect wearers much more intensely than previously. Supposedly, these vests will even protect against light machine gun fire. They cover both the front and the back of the wearers. However, they are quite a bit more costly than the older styles.
