When I was a kid, I Started in amateur boxing league with some of my friends. The boxing equipment was an easy matter. All the boxing gear that we would need, basically, was our fists. After awhile, we realized that it would be a little better and safer to get some boxing gloves. Our parents saw us coming home with bruises and broken noses, and needless to say they were none too happy. However, the boxing gloves were as far as we went for awhile. We never had to invest in any fancy boxing equipment because we never had any particularly high goals. We just wanted a fun, easy way to blow off steam while hanging out with each other.
I can still remember the day when my mom got me my first boxing bag. It really was a dream come true! I had dreamed about getting some quality boxing equipment for a few years, but I never had enough money. Having some better boxing gear made my game much better almost overnight. Because I could practice punching drills, I could make myself stronger, faster, and better at it very quickly. It wasn't long until my friends saw the difference. Suddenly, I was winning almost all of my fights. That made them get their own boxing training equipment.
For a while, we trained on our own, but then we realized that we would do better if we worked together. That way, we could pool our boxing equipment and save money on buying extra supplies. We got some hand weights, a weight bench, and even set up an amateur boxing ring in my friend's basement. Soon, our collection of boxing equipment was getting pretty good. For a while, we even imagined that we could open our own boxing gym.
Nowadays, most of my boxing equipment is gone or down in storage. The only thing I have left, in fact, is my set of boxing gloves and the boxing glove display cases. When I first got a boxing glove display case, my wife thought it was pretty silly. Why would I put my used boxing equipment from when I was a teenager and display? When I explained to her how special a time it was for me, she understood. It is nice to have that boxing equipment displayed so proudly inside my den. Every time I look at it, I remember how much fun I had boxing as a kid.
