I have white countertop in my kitchen. This means whenever something spills I run the risk of a stain. Though it is nice countertop, it tends to hold on to red dye very easily. I can eventually get it out, but it often takes a number of scrubbing for it to disappear. At one point, after my daughter had spilled Kool-Aid, I had to use Comet to get my countertop clean. I am beginning to wonder if granite counters would be a better alternative to what we have now. I can’t change the countertop in the house I live in, but I can certainly choose what I want when we buy a house.
Granite counters can be more durable than any other type you can buy. You will find however, that you will pay more for granite counters that you will for almost any other type of countertop. If you have the money to buy it however, it might be a worthy investment. You may find that granite is more beautiful than any of the other types of countertops available, and it may be easier to clean. That does not mean it will not stain, but if you buy a dark color this will never be an issue.
When it comes to granite counters, however, there may be special thing should have to keep in mind. Granite is much heavier, and will need to have a very solid base underneath. You may find that you have to use special cleaning solutions to clean your new granite countertops, as you would if you had marble. It will be up to you the cost and the extra effort is worth it. I have seen a lot of granite counters in my life, and I cannot say that I have seen anything more beautiful in a kitchen.
You don’t have to limit granite counters to your kitchen however, as you can use them in other places in your home. They are great in bathrooms, and you may also have granite counters in your laundry room if you wish. If you have a bar in your home, or even an office, you may want to use granite counters there as well. You may add a certain style to your home, and it might be the look you have been looking for. If you don’t have a lot of money, but still want to use granite, don’t be afraid to look around for the best price you can find. Someone, somewhere, will have what you need at the right price.
