Some kids dream of being an astronaut. Although they can’t shoot off into space when they’re only seven or eight-years-old, their parents can certainly help create a space themed room for them. With the use of accessories including glow in dark stars a little boy or girl can have their own space adventure every night when they go to bed.
Creating a special room for a child is a great way to help them express their own personalities. In the case of a child who dreams of growing up to space travel, it doesn’t take much to add a few space themed touches to their room. Glow in dark stars work well because they are inexpensive and very easy to apply.
Most are sold in a kit. The kit generally contains dozens of stars all in different sizes. After painting the ceiling and walls, a parent can easily apply the glow in dark stars. The color of the paint really doesn’t matter, as the glow in dark stars are almost transparent and aren’t really visible when the lights are turned on. Some parents opt for a pale blue or medium blue to match the color the sky would be.
At night when the child goes to bed, the ceiling resembles the sky. For children who love looking at the stars outdoors this is a fun way to bring that inside for them. They can fall asleep feeling as though they are beneath the stars while they are actually safe in the comfort of their own bed.
The walls are also a good place to put the stars. Some parents run a line of them around the top of the wall near the ceiling. If the child can understand that the stars need to stay on the wall having them help with attaching the glow in dark stars can be a fun project. There are really no set rules as to where they can be attached to. However, you don’t want to make the mistake of sticking the glow in dark stars to a ceiling fan. Once it’s turned on stars will fly everywhere.
Removing them when the child trades their dream of being a space traveler for another career is relatively easy. Depending on the quality of the glow in dark stars and the strength of the adhesive repainting the area may be required.
Science projects are another perfect place to use the stars. Many middle school aged kids have at least one assignment that focuses on the solar system. Using inexpensive glow in dark stars can add an entirely new dimension to a simple project and can bring it to life.
