Stirring Essay On Capital Punishment

By: Sam Dillon

Crime continues to rise in our country. I often ask myself why this is. Is it related back to the parents of the criminals? Are certain people bad and without morals because they were raised poorly? Or, do you think this is a nature issue. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with nurture. It's possible that some individuals are simply born evil. How else can you explain some people's actions? If they were raised right and treated well, what else do you have left? Personally I think it's our judicial system. We're too easy on offenders. It's high time everyone read an essay on capital punishment and thought really hard about its place in our country. Maybe we need it more than we know.

My father once told me it would be easy if we could just take all the criminals we knew were guilty and just dumped them in the ocean somewhere or even off a cliff. This sounds a bit crazy and probably cruel to some people. However, many people do think along these lines. We all get frustrated with crime and how redundantly it occurs. When will it ever end? The answer to that question is NEVER. Some people will always go against the law. So what about that essay on capital punishment? I wrote on of these back in high school. I am pro capital punishment. The criminal justice system can do away with all killers, rapists, and pedophiles immediately. These folks have nothing to offer our society. In my essay on capital punishment I argued that the presence of stronger capital punishment laws would decrease the crime rate. And I still believe this to be so. It's about striking fear into those who do wrong. They need serious negative reinforcement or else they will probably not respect the law. It's as simple as that. Would anyone really miss a convicted pedophile who's assaulted several children? I doubt that!

You surely have a stand on capital punishment. And regardless of what essay on capital punishment read, your view may not ever change. This is common of our species. Some feel it's cruel to kill period, and others feel that certain individuals need to be extracted from this world for the greater good and safety for all. It's a debate that will continue on.
