I am what you would call a coffee fanatic. I drink coffee all day, and when I’m away from home I must have a decent source of coffee nearby. I guess you could say it would be pretty miserable if I went camping or was lost in the wilderness and could not have my daily coffee. I might consider a lack of coffee even worse than a lack of food in that situation. I have learned a lot about how to make the freshest cup of coffee possible. One thing that I have heard is that if you are going to grind your own coffee you should make sure that you get a burr coffee grinder for this purpose.
Right now I do not have a burr coffee grinder. I went in search of one, and I could only find the one that has blades. There is a big difference in how these coffee grinders deal with the coffee bean. The burr coffee grinders dig away at this side of the bean, and you get a more even distribution and size to your ground coffee. Though the blades do a pretty good job, I’m always told that the burr coffee grinder is by far superior if you want the perfect cup of coffee.
In my search for a burr coffee grinder, I have come up empty-handed. I don’t know if I am just looking in the wrong places, but I only seem to be able to find the type with blades. I have to admit that my blade coffee grinder has done a good job thus far, but I do want to try the burr variety to see if I can tell the difference. Perhaps there will be no difference, and I will have paid more money for a burr coffee grinder for no reason. It’s a chance I guess I’m going to take, as when it comes to coffee, I want the best cup I can possibly have.
If you go into a restaurant or a coffee house that grinds their own coffee, chances are good that they have used a burr coffee grinder. When you buy coffee from a place that specializes in coffee, they do everything they can to make the best possible cup. I have yet to be able to make coffee in my own home as good as I can get a coffee store. I think this has more to do with my coffee maker and the fact that I do not yet own a burr coffee grinder. However, it will still get one, and see if I can tell the difference.
